Power Mac G5 (June 2004)

Introduced: June 2004
Terminated: April 2005

Description

The Power Mac G5 (June 2004) was a speed bump of the original release.  There were three different configurations.  The low-end configuration had dual 1.6Ghz processors, had an 80Gb hard drive and 256Mb of RAM.  Midrange configuration had dual 1.8Ghz processors, had a 160Gb hard drive and 512Mb of RAM.  The high-end configuration ran dual 2.5Ghz processors, had a 160Gb hard drive and 512Mb of RAM.

History

Apart from the increased processor speeds, the Power Mac G4 (June 2004) was essentially the same as the previous model.  As was typical for speed bumped models, the graphics and optical drives were improved.  The only other significant change was in the high-end configuration.  Due to running at very high temperatures, a liquid cooling system was developed.
